Where to Stay in Chinatown Bangkok

Hotels in Chinatown cater to all budgets, from backpacker to luxury seeker. Chinatown is the multicultural district in the center of Bangkok – a busy, bustling place with Yaowarat Road running through the neighborhood. It’s the home of Bangkok’s large Chinese community, with Indian settlers also in abundance. During the day the area doesn’t stand out much from the rest of Bangkok but with the neon signs lit at night and the street stalls serving wonderful delicacies, this is a place not to be missed. Find your favorite Chinatown hotel here.

All About Chinatown

Chinatown was first established in the late 1700s by merchants from China. There still remains a sizeable community of ethnic Chinese in this area, and an abundance of traditional buildings, food, traditions, and temples. The streets are frantic and busy, and street markets spill out from the pavements. You’ll find plenty of interesting shops selling gold and artifacts, some fascinating buildings, and wonderful food.

While Chinatown is one of the most popular areas in Bangkok, visitors don’t tend to choose the area for accommodation. However, you’ll certainly find hotels in Chinatown whether you are looking for luxury or a more economical option. There may not be quite as many hotels in this neighborhood as in other Bangkok areas, but you still have a decent amount of choice.

Another budget option, the China Town Hotel at the crossover of Yaowarat Road and Song Sawat Road has a reasonable selection of rooms although they are in need of some refurbishment.
