Laem Singh is one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket and its popularity keeps growing and growing. You may not get the beach to yourself anymore, but you do get a gorgeous wide stretch of sand that reaches under a steep cape. The beach is located within a small bay, which is dotted with palm trees and sprinkled with boulders, making it a great place for taking photographs as well as relaxing.
Laem Singh Beach, one of the best beaches in Phuket, is located on the west coast of the island between the beaches of Kamala and Surin. There is a fee for accessing the beach, which doesn’t seem to bother most people as they are keen to pay a few baht for the pleasure of spending some time on this lovely stretch of sand.
Get to the beach by traveling down the Beach Road, and then taking one of two paths that lead from the car parks to the beach itself. The two paths are not very easy to walk, and they are quite steep, so it will take at least five minutes before you access the beach.
Facilities at Laem Singh Beach
You won’t be surprised to learn that as the beach offers a fairly rustic beach experience, there is not much in the way of facilities. There is a shower, made from a hose with fresh water running through it, for cooling off. And there are plenty of places in the shade of the trees where you can get a traditional Thai massage.
Laem Singh Beach Restaurants
The restaurants on Laem Singh Beach are down to earth, atmospheric, and serve some wonderful food. If you want to sit on the sand and eat a seafood meal or a Thai lunch, you have come to the right place. The beach is also home to some popular Italian restaurants serving variations on Italian classics. The atmosphere at all the restaurants on this beach is very friendly and you will no doubt find a warm welcome.
Laem Singh Activities
The best thing about the beach is the chance it offers to do absolutely nothing, apart from lying on the sand or snooze in the shade of a palm tree. But if you want to be a bit more active, try swimming in the ocean. The water is clear and calm at the southern end of the beach and there is also the opportunity to try snorkeling.
Rent body boards or inflatables on the beach, or take out a kayak into the bay. You can also ride jet skis in the high season as well as enjoy waterskiing and banana boats.
Where to Stay at Laem Singh Beach
You won’t find any accommodation exactly on Laem Singh Beach as there is not much going on after around 6.30pm. But if you want to stay near to the beach then you will find plenty of options in the nearby town of Surin, which is the closest beach to Laem Singh. There are some very stylish and luxurious resorts near to Surin.
Laem Singh Beach Viewpoint
The viewpoint is a popular place to look at the view and maybe take in one of Phuket’s lovely sunsets. The viewpoint is on the coast road and is located between Kamala Beach and Surin Beach. There are some seats and also a shelter which provides some shelter from the hot sun.
The shelter has open sides and a traditional Thai-style roof, and there are benches inside plus rails around the structure making it a safe place to be while taking photos of the view. It is difficult to find parking immediately close to the viewpoint and it is almost impossible when it gets to sunset. You should come a little earlier if you want to get a spot, or you can take a taxi to the viewpoint or a bike.
