Discover 10 Best Beaches for Snorkeling in Phuket

Snorkeling in Phuket

Snorkeling in Phuket is an activity not to be missed. Swimming gently in the calm, clear waters and checking out the marine life is an enjoyable activity for all the family. But not every beach in Phuket is perfect for snorkeling. Some island areas have better beaches with peaceful sections and clear water – the best locations are often the most secluded, where the boats and the tourists don’t disturb the wildlife, and you can have the ocean almost to yourself. Here are 10 of the best beaches in Phuket for snorkeling

1. Laem Ka

The beach at Laem Ka is located close to Rawai in southern Phuket. This beach is little-known and boasts a good section of tranquil, clear water. Snorkeling is good here, and there are a few facilities like beach chairs to help make you more comfortable.

2. Banana Beach

Visit a hidden beach that is close to the main airport in Phuket. This beach is secluded, and it boasts crystal-clear waters – ideal for swimming peacefully with whatever wildlife you can find.

3. Ao Sane

This small beach is split into three separate areas thanks to jutting rocks, and it is an excellent place to go a little deeper with your snorkeling gear. You should be able to spot some creatures in the water and relax without too many people around.

4. Kata Noi

It is a famous beach because it is easy to access and harbors much marine life. Find a restaurant, bars, and all the facilities you need to make a day of it.

5. Freedom Beach

On the other hand, Freedom Beach is difficult to reach but worth it for the excellent snorkeling. You can get there by taking a longtail boat that leaves from Patong, but there is also a road that reaches the beach – it is not easy to access, so you need to be active.

6. Naithon

Go to the south end of the beach at Naithon for the best wildlife. This attractive beach is on the west side of Phuket, and it is not very busy because it is not close to the central tourist regions. Snorkeling is decent here, and there are also facilities such as a restaurant.

7. Laem Singh

The Laem Singh beach is not the most peaceful in Phuket – it is often full of people so you won’t get such a secluded experience in the water. However, there are more facilities like a restaurant and a bar, plus all the other amenities you come to expect like beach massages and food vendors.

8. Ya Nui

This is one tiny beach – Ya Nui Beach is set between Windmill Viewpoint and Promthep Cape. It attracts quite a few people in high season, but it is worth visiting for the excellent snorkeling and the beautiful waters.

9. Paradise Beach

Maybe you won’t exactly find paradise here because there are many people in high season, but there are a few interesting rock formations to check out, and the beach is exciting and clean.

10. Snorkeling in Phuket Islands Snorkel trip to the islands

As a final point, it is essential to remember that some of the best snorkeling is found by taking a boat to one of the islands. Slip off the side of the boat into the calm water, and you’re ready to snorkel. The marine life is abundant, and the surroundings are peaceful and tunning. Check out the many boat trips you can take for a snorkeling tour of the Phuket islands.

Bring your gear if you are swimming in the more remote areas as not every beach will have facilities for mask and fin rental. And keep in mind that in low season it can be dangerous to swim in the ocean. If in doubt, ask for advice locally.
